Use the unknown hostname inbox

Turn real hostnames seen by Joinometry into campaign mappings without guessing what players used.

Use the unknown hostname inbox#

The unknown hostname inbox shows hostnames that players used but Joinometry could not match to an active campaign.

This is useful because it shows real traffic. You do not have to guess whether players used play.example.com, creator.example.com, or another address.

When to use it#

Use the inbox when:

  • a campaign has traffic but no hostname mapping yet,
  • a creator used a different hostname than expected,
  • a server list sends players through a domain you forgot to map,
  • you want to clean up unattributed traffic.

Assign a hostname#

Choose the unknown hostname, select the campaign it belongs to, and save the mapping. Once a hostname is assigned, it should no longer appear as unknown for that entrypoint.

If Joinometry offers a historical rebuild option, use it when you want earlier joins for that hostname to count toward the selected campaign.

Avoid duplicates#

If the hostname is already part of a campaign, do not create another mapping for the same entrypoint. Open the existing campaign and update that mapping instead.
