Map hostnames to campaigns#
A hostname mapping connects a join address to a campaign.
For example, if a creator tells players to join creator.example.com, you can map creator.example.com to that creator campaign.
Where to map hostnames#
Open Campaigns and use the hostname tools for the campaign you want to configure.
For proxy networks, map hostnames to the entrypoint server, usually your Velocity, BungeeCord, or Waterfall proxy. Backend servers usually should not have campaign hostnames.
Good mapping habits#
- Use a clear hostname for each campaign.
- Avoid reusing the same hostname for multiple active campaigns.
- Archive old mappings when the campaign ends.
- Use wildcard mappings only when you intentionally want to catch a group of subdomains.
What happens after mapping#
New joins through that hostname can be attributed to the campaign. If the hostname already received traffic before you mapped it, Joinometry may offer a historical rebuild option so earlier activity can be connected too.
If a mapping fails#
The most common reason is that the hostname is already mapped for that entrypoint. Check the campaign and unknown hostname inbox before creating a duplicate.
